Truck Valance Lights: What They Are and Why They Look So Good
If you have seen a truck at night with a clean line of light spilling forward onto the pavement and wondered what it was, you were looking at valance lights.
Where they go
The valance is the lower panel beneath your front bumper - the piece between the bumper and the ground. Valance lights mount along it and throw light forward and down onto the road ahead.
The effect is different from rock lights or wheel lights. Rock lights light the ground under the truck. Wheel lights light the wheels. Valance lights push light ahead of the truck, which makes the front end look wider and lower and gives you a lit approach when you pull in somewhere.

Picking a kit size
We ship three, and the only question is how much of the valance you want lit:
- 10 Piece - covers the valance on most standard front ends.
- 15 Piece - our most popular size and the right call for most trucks running an aftermarket bumper.
- 20 Piece - full coverage for wide front ends and heavy duty trucks.
All three use the same physical kit hardware, so you are not choosing between different products - just how much coverage you want.
Measure before you order
Run a tape along the valance from one end to the other. If your front end is stock and you are under about 60 inches of usable run, the 10 piece will cover it. Aftermarket bumpers and heavy duty front ends usually need 15 or 20. When in doubt, size up - extra pieces give you flexibility in spacing, and tight spacing looks better than gaps.
What it pairs with
Valance lights sit low and forward, which makes them the natural front-end companion to rock lights under the body and wheel lights in the barrels. Run all three and the truck reads as one continuous piece of light rather than three separate mods that happen to be on the same vehicle.
If you are building up gradually, valance is a good first purchase precisely because it is the easiest install - you learn how the adhesive and routing work on a simple job before tackling wheel lights, which are considerably more involved.
Durability
The valance is the most exposed lighting position on a truck. It eats road spray, gravel, salt and everything the tires ahead of you kick up. Our kits are built for it and are covered by our limited lifetime warranty.
One install tip that matters more here than anywhere else: clean the mounting surface properly. Wax and road film are why adhesive lets go. Our strip cleaner exists for exactly this, and skipping the step is the single most common reason a strip comes loose months later.
